Saturday, September 19th, 2020 is National CleanUp Day! Meet me at the Murphy Ranch Trailhead at 7:30am for a 3.5-4 mile hike to a bunch of abandoned, graffitied buildings. Once we marvel at the artwork and take some photos, we'll leave the area better than we found it by picking up as much of the trash as we can and carrying it out. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided to participants and a special prize will be awarded to the person who collects the most trash (judged by weight)!

We'll hike the Murphy Ranch Trail as a loop. Park on the street (it'll be a residential neighborhood so be mindful of parking restrictions) and meet at the intersection of Castale Road and Capri Drive. We'll walk on a fireroad with great views for about a mile before following the graffiti down a long flight of stairs - 524 steps - to Murphy Ranch. This is a popular location for historians, photographers, and taggers! We'll stay at the ranch for a while, taking pictures, having a snack, and participating in the clean up before following Sullivan Fire Road back to the trailhead.

Directions: From Interstate 405 at Sunset Boulevard, head west on Sunset for 3.1 miles and take a right onto Capri Drive. Follow this road through a roundabout and a few oddly angled intersections until it ends at Casale Road. The trail is to the left, but there's no parking on that part of the street.
